General
Norrlands nation is the biggest nation of all in Uppsala with approximately 7 000 members and was founded in the year 1827. As all the other nations in Uppsala Norrlands nation is run by students for students. Every semester 8 students take a break in their studies to take on the responsibility of running the nation. The nation focuses on the four northern counties of Sweden, which pervades the nation in its activities. Norrlands nation is most known for its 04-gasks which transforms the house to a party palace. Many of the biggest artists in Sweden have once played live at Norrlands nation. Eagle Eye Cherry, The Ark, Sahara Hotnights and Moneybrother to name a few. These events should not pass by unattended!
Food and drink
The nation has a café, Majs Café, which daily serve both breakfast and lunch to an affordable price. There is also Orvars Pub where you can eat the patent pending Robbo Burger, among many other dishes, and take something to drink during the evenings. The café is open weekdays and the Pub is open 7 days a week. If you are in the mood for a fancier dinner you can visit the restaurant Hjortron (Cloudberry), which serve food with high standard influenced of the North.
Work
The nation offers many opportunities to earn some extra money while you study. You can, for example, work as bartender, waiter/waitress or chef. The best part is that you don’t need any previous experience to work at the nation. We will teach you. This is a great way to quickly get to know other students in Uppsala.
Study
To improve the possibilities for our members to perform successful studies we offer a library with course literature and a quiet study room with 35 places. We also have a computer room with word processing program and Internet for you to use. So, there is no problem spending a complete study day with breakfast, lunch and dinner at the nation thanks to Majs Café and Orvars Pub.
Sports
Norrlands nation is proud to present it´s own atheltic society, NNIF! NNIF plays all kinds of sports, such as badminton, soccer, basketball and climbing. If you want to know more or participate in the activities, please klick here to visit their website.
Societies
Within the nation there are several different societies with different agendas to take part in. There are orchestras with show dancers, choir, sports club, photography, students’ farce and local northern societies. Beside their original activity they arrange social gatherings among and between the societies.

- Reception dinner for new members on Thursday the 2nd of September at 6 pm at Norrlands nation!
- Reccefika on Wednesday the 8th of September at 7 pm - when you have joined our nation, come and have a “fika” with the International committee and discuss what you think would be fun to do during the autumn. Afterwards we will visit club Norrlandica together!
